The natural continuation of the BONIFANTES Boys’ Choir is the male-voice choir. The BONIFANTES Male-voice Choir builds on the work of the Hradec Králové Mens' Choir, with which choirmaster Jan Míšek has worked since 1996 and which reinvigorated the tradition of male-voice choir singing in the Czech Republic. Indeed Jan Míšek has recorded three compact discs with the Hradec Králové Male-voice Choir, was awarded a gold medal at the inaugural Choir Olympics in the Austrian town of Linz, and has taken part in a number of concert tours of Europe and the USA.
Once the boys’ choir had been founded in Pardubice in 1999, cooperation then began with the Schola Cantorum BONIFANTES and the choir has gradually become part of this organisation after a number of years. Together with the first pupils of the BONIFANTES Boys’ Choir, the male-voice choir performed at the Prague Spring festival in 2003 and recorded its first two compact discs.
Tenors and basses, graduates of the boys’ part of the choir, sing in two concert groups. They combine with sopranos and altos to form the mixed boys’ choir. They also perform separately in the male-voice choir, which is one of the youngest in the Czech Republic.
